A light woke her. The flame flickered as the candle moved closer. It was as if it was hovering in mid-air. Her bleary eyes focused and she made out the silhouette of a man. It was Henry.

“Kelly,” he said softly.

“Sir,” she answered, sitting up.

He placed the candle on the table by her bed and used it to light her own. Two lights lit up his face. He’d removed his jacket and necktie, and his bare throat was magnified by his sculptured Adam’s apple and the veins in his neck. Was he angry?

He drew back the coverlet, uncovering her bare legs and rumpled shirt. “Lift up the shirt and show me your cunt,” he growled softly.

Had he been drinking? She smelt a little tobacco, but no wine or whisky upon his lips. His eyes weren’t angry, though, or rummy with intoxication. They were startlingly awake, vibrant, their blueness a laser in candlelight. Something had roused him, brought him up to the attic to see her in the middle of the night.

She obeyed him. It was a different kind of magic to the mirror but equally powerful. She liked obeying him. She liked his stern voice, the expectation of compliance, the erotic thrill of being wanted by him. It was a package bundled into something superlative and mystical, just like the mirror.

She shuffled the nightshirt up her thighs, past her hips and up to her belly. With no knickers on, nothing at all to hide her mound, she was exposed.

“Part your legs,” he commanded.

Her spine tingled with shivers as she spread her legs open.

He snatched a breath, leaning in to see her privates, her pussy, as she called it. The vulgar language he preferred to use was perfect for his time, but not hers. She wasn’t sure she liked it, except when he used the word, the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end and the rings in her nipples pinched.

“I have suffered long days, recently. Boring dinners, necessary for my social standing, but tedious for me. I cannot stop thinking about you. My little maid, up here, alone in the attic.”

Her lower lip trembled. “I’m here, sir. I’m willing.”

“I know,” he sighed deeply. “As am I.”

Blurb:

Twenty-three-year-old Kelly Regan didn’t expect much excitement when she took a job as a curator at a historic estate, but upon encountering a beautiful, mysteriously powerful mirror she suddenly finds herself transported back to the Victorian era.

Kelly is intrigued by the estate’s owner, the handsome bachelor Sir Henry Yarlswood, and in order to learn more about life in his household she impersonates another woman and obtains a position as his maid. But Henry is not a man who tolerates dishonestly from his staff, and after her deception is discovered Kelly’s bottom is bared for a painful, embarrassing spanking.

The stern punishment only increases Kelly’s desire to know more about her handsome employer, but after she is caught snooping through his personal effects she soon finds herself stripped naked for an even more shameful chastisement. Despite her sore bottom, however, she is deeply aroused by Henry’s firm-handed dominance, and when he claims her properly his masterful lovemaking leaves her spent and satisfied. But will their blossoming romance be enough to keep her by his side, even if it means leaving her old life behind forever?

Publisher’s Note: A Strict Gentleman includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.
