SEEN THROUGH ANGRY EYES #WIPITUPWEDNESDAY

Welcome to WIP IT UP!  In this scene from our work in progress, “Barely Survived”, we catch another glimpse of one who is watching Jackie and Daniel.   Remember, underneath all the spankings, voyeurism, sex and romance ... lies a murder mystery. :)  Take a peek!

****
Through angry eyes, he stared out of his apartment window and focused on the light blue Mustang.  He shouldn’t have gotten so close to her.  Sitting down on the sofa, he opened his laptop and clicked on the security icon.  Some time ago, he had an associate install a camera outside the luxurious beach home which gave him a bird’s eye view of Daniel’s comings and goings.

The explosion of the Bonerati’s boat had him constantly looking over his shoulder.  In the beginning he wasn’t too concerned, since it had been deemed an accident.  But then Detective Michael Andrews showed up on the scene and revived the cold case.  At first it seemed comical.  The bumbling detective appeared at the oddest places and times, and it was always just one more thing with him.  Unfortunately, what he had concluded as ineffectual detective work turned out to be a methodical process of elimination.  Underestimating this man was a mistake that should never happen again.

Another spoke in the wheel was Daniel’s sister in law.  He never expected Jackie to resurface, and her presence was throwing a curve into his plan.  She’d been summoned back to the island for questioning and they’d become inseparable.  Having Jackie around wasn't necessarily a bad thing.  In fact, he felt sure there was a way to use her to his advantage.

He stared at the computer screen clutching his stomach; the antacid he took was worthless.  Today he’d been reckless and shortsighted.  Following Jackie certainly upset her and aroused suspicion that something was awry.  He probably shouldn’t have done that.  Yet, it was possible that misdirection could lead to his ultimate success and, hopefully, his ill-advised act served some purpose after all.

He tapped his fingers on the refrigerator door, opened it and pulled out a beer.  After twisting the cap off, he took a long swig and sat back down to ponder the situation.  As he slowly raised his head, a maniacal smile appeared.  Jackie and Daniel's new relationship just might be what he needed to end this mess once and for all.  He put his beer down, pulled out a cell phone and hit the speed dial.

“I need you to do something for me.”  His voice was steady and confident.

  1. Ohhh.... this is getting SO good. Last week we were left wondering who the voyeurs were and now we have an unknown man who I can only presume is the killer. I am sure he has ill contempt for Jackie throwing him a curve by hooking up with Daniel. But his thoughts about working Jackie into his plans. Oh, that just irks me and I hate this man already. I hope Daniel kicks his ass.
Awesome tension building, Shelly. ☺ Hoping you had a wonderful Thanksgiving ☺

    1. Thanksgiving was a lot of fun here ... hope you enjoyed it, too! I'm so glad you like this! It was an earlier snippet when he only had an outside view, but from now on will become a voyeur on the inside. Jackie is rarely being punished or having sex with Daniel from now on without someone watching. Of course, the fun is in the mystery of who they are. :)

Where were the inner voices this week? Really missed them. :)

    1. Thanks so much, Helen! I always found the bad guy's POV in the police dramas to be fascinating! Not as in depth here, but still fun to write :)

    1. LOL! Doug and I just put our final two cents in to help Daniel and the detective unravel this damn case! God knows, they weren't doing it on their own! ;) Don't you hate when you give your main characters a job and they shirk their duties? HA!

I'm so glad you enjoy hopping over here, Christina! I always look forward to your comments! :)
